Not Alone

I may or may not wind up with this becoming my basis for today’s Grist, but I read one of my verse for the day emails and it had Proverbs 29:25 as the verse it demanded I read today. I am reading the Bible all the way through by signing up for a number of verse of the day encouragement emails and believe I will be done by sometime in the next century. So, Proverbs 29:25 states: “The fear of man brings a snare, But he who trusts in the Lord will be exalted.” NASB
I must have read this before as I have tried to make this a tenant of my life once I moved past the intial time of being born again and stopped having my diaper changed. I would be a liar if I said I was living large and pumping the verse through my veins, but overall I have lost friends, made friends, lost some of my “good stuff” and wound up with “better stuff”, and become overly aggressive in debates, (maybe even some arguments also), and caused an air of tension in my own house.
I do not quote this verse, Matthew 10:34: “Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword.” NASB, while debating the finer things of life and Scripture, but I know it is in the Bible, and have to believe it goes together with Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” NASB I do know there are surrounding verses and qualifiers in the verses, but nevertheless, we have to use all of Scripture and not just John 3:16. I am not going to go into those verses that speak about how a house is divided with three on two, (do I get to discount those verses because we only have three in our house?), but will agree with Abe and Scripture, and add in the admonition about a divided house cannot stand.
I think a great example is the Conway house, where George is loaded with TDS, hangs out with super TDS’s and Kelly Ann worked for Trump. I also see that in the Christian world as the group that is able to care and continue to love on those in sin while trying to move them from the grip sin has on their life, as opposed to the group that loves the sinner so much they excuse and condone the sin rather than oppose the sin entangling the world with its destructive offerings.
In all our debating, arguing, cajoling, encouraging, and whatever you want to call the discussions and actions taking place on a daily basis, maybe even minute by minute in some cases, the bottom line contains a few elements which are often thrown out and forgotten, (just as some do when they throw out the baby with the bath water), e.g., common sense is persona-non-grata if it interferes with a talking point; do not intercede with facts when the emotional argument can rule the day. Of course, it goes without saying, that an ability to discard the truth along the way can be an essential element to declare a win in the debate when the going gets tough. And when the final touch of the name calling has arrived, the debate is now definitely going to be mark in the win column for the name caller as person who is pure and calling out the unpure person must be the superior being in the room and usually the loudest.
I don’t think Gutfeld is a religious person or even has an idea what Proverbs 29:25 says. But he speaks about risk takers, those who stood up to the false narratives about Covid, those who stood up to the mutilation of children’s genitals, those who stood up to other tenants of the left, e.g., men in women’s sports, the DEI captivation of the United States, the cancel culture, the mostly peaceful riots that destroyed cities, that words are violence, etc., and the price they paid when taking the risk of speaking against the golden calves of the left. Charlie Kirk paid the price with his life while others have had their own death threats, beatings, and issues with harassment.
Alvin Bragg, Letisha James, Gavin Newsom, Joy Read, Lawrence O’Donnell, The Morning Schmos, Adam Schiff, Hillary Clinton, The Squad, The View, Obama, and Harris, along with a long list of other players on the left, are all examples in their own way, of those who force one to rely on Proverbs 29:25 when dealing with them. I am not on the playing field where they play the game but those who are not RHINOS in the Republican party are, and definitely need something to combat their viciousness when dealing with them. I know there are a few who know what Proverbs 29:25 says and hope they continue to follow it.
I would dare anyone to demonstrate an ounce of common sense in any of those named above and the other players on the left when it comes to things of importance, like actually taking care of Americans before opening the borders to drown Americans in a sea of immigrants and their needs.
There was a reason the founding fathers put together what they hoped would be a small government that the people operated rather than a big government that would take care of the people; that God would be the One who gave the rights, not the government; and the United States would be a meritocracy, not a woke DEI country. It is amazing to think there were detractors back then, just as now, and all during these couple of hundred years the United States has been in existence. Debs tried to take over the presidency in the early 1900’s and Brennon was still tying to help the Debs party into the White House in the 1980’s.
I will admit I am somewhat a Johny Come Lately, as I have only be following the Proverbs admonition since in the mid 70’s. So, maybe there are more people trying to follow Proverbs 29:25 than just me and the few I am aware of, as even after all these years and attempts by the unscrupulous left, we haven’t been completely over run yet.

The Head Rat

The other night, Robin Hood, LittleJohn and I were sitting around the campfire, while lady Miriam was barefoot and cutting the vegetables on the plank for the Abondigas Soup, trying to figure out who was really the leader of the Democratic party. There obviously is someone pulling the strings for the puppets as one day, all the minions state there is a Constitutional Crisis taking place, the next day, they all mouth the admonition about the raid in the parking lot of Home Depot and causing illegal aliens to disappear, (although that is not exactly how they describe it but they all mouth the same statement), and then they are back for a day of calling Trump a dictator, and so on and so on until the month is over and they start the list all over again.
We decided Pelosi, the woman with the Wall Street Magic, is still a strong voice in the crowd but is not running the show any longer. Schumer is definitely not the leader, even though he is the one trying to ramrod the shutdown. Jefferies, who was influenced by a Communist uncle who worked in the education system, is loud and seen in the background of all Democratic shenanigans, is not the leader of the pack. Who is the one behind the curtain like the Wizard of Oz, pulling the chains of all their minions and miscreants?
While the squad wields some power through threats, accusations, and fervant pitching of stupid climate change plans, DEI demands, and name calling, they are not the ones who could be giving the marching orders as they seem to be more of a irritating pimple on the nose rather than a true general barking orders to be carried out each day. And Crockett certainly slipped a couple of c-notes to the bar examiner as the chair she sits on to make her false charges of racism and commentary on what a criminal really is, has a higher IQ than she does. Nope, no leader to rally around here.
We kept going down the list of possible suspects, e.g., Spartacus, the pothole mayor, the missing warrior, the Russian honeymooner, the honey potter, the French food diner, and even the one who claims everyone sucks but her. Some think these and others of their ilk, who are all utterly lacking in common sense, are able to lead a country better than anyone who has just a little lick of common sense. For the most part, the proof is in the pudding, as the saying goes, because every position they hold has crime winning over victims, open borders winning over a legal and orderly immigration system, men beating up women in women’s sports, children losing their genitals, and color over merit.
Friar Tuck entered the circle and asked why we were searching for the hand pulling the lever each day which spit out the talking point of the day among the ones who are parroting the talking poiints? He did think we may be able to figure out who was the first to blast the talking point into existence for the day, subpoena their emails, phone calls, and texts to find out who might be giving the marching order for the day. But they could only be a messenger so we might have to move one more step deeper into the woodpile.
We know there is a rat in the woodpile somewhere sending out these vile statements of the day, just like the man behind the curtain in the Wizard of Oz. The Schmos certainly are not smart enough to be the leaders of the pack. But maybe we start with their emails, phone calls, and texts, as they are on early. But their minion Geist comes on before them so we may need to dig even deeper into the woodpile.
Oh well, here come Lady Miriam with the Abondigas Soup. The campfire is getting low, and it will be time to watch this evening’s News of Nottingham when we finish mopping up the bowl with the fresh baked bread. We need to hire Sherlock to help us find out who is the head rat in the woodpile.

Keep It In The Quiver

One more glaring example of the hypocrisy of the left: Kimmel can not be taken off the air for a blatant lie but Finebaum can be removed from ESPN because he says he is thinking about running for the Senate as a Republican. So far, my investigative powers have worked overtime to find someone who is upset over Finebaum’s removal from the air and there are zero, count em, zero, outrages, either in print or on the air.
Now even more important in the overall scheme of things, where is the outrage from the Republicans? Here is a readymade situation to exploit. But all you hear are crickets!
Over and over again, the left makes big deals about things most of which are not true. Kimmel was taken off the air because he is a losing proposition if they want the show to pay for the extravagance of a show that has nothing to offer but one more night of Trump negative commentary.
Do you know that over 6 million tuned in on the night Kimmel returned to the air to hear his apology. Of course, Kimmel did not apologize. The next night he had an audience of 3 million, a loss of 50%. Within two weeks, Kimmel was below what he was counting before he was taken off the air, i.e., a little over a million. How stupid is he, and how long will the bean counters stay with Mr. Stupid? And will it be a violation of Kimmel’s First Amendment rights when he is removed for good? According to the Finebaum rule, the answer is no!
While I am on this rant, what is wrong with becoming your parents as Progressive claims in the commercial? Now it may be you should watch and do the exact opposite of what your parents do. But it could be that following in their footsteps may not be the worst path to go down. It is an insult to the good parents to be lumped into the box with the bad parents. But the bottom line still winds up being that you must be who you are and not try to be someone else, Mr. Newsom.
Applying this to our discussion above, I would like to have Kimmel’s money but would not like to be stupid like him. Think about it, having an audience of 6 million, staying neutral and being disliked by both sides is much better than showing your rear end to over half of America and winding up with the audience of one million that are as one sided as you presently portray nightly.
Have you ever thought about the umpires in baseball that start their workday with the first pitch and are on the field until the last out of the game? How many of the workforce today could even come close to doing this 162 times a year and fight to get into the playoffs so they can do it for another month? No bathroom breaks, no chair to sit down and take a load off for a brief respite, and enduring for nine innings all the fans of one team thinking you are blind or being paid off, sometimes even changing fan bases, and everyone freely exercising their First Amendment rights in describing you. At least in football and basketball, the referees get a halftime break to get a drink of water and take care of any pressing issues.
Around 2015, I enlisted in an umpires league for high schools in the area East of the 57 freeway. It was almost like joining the Army again in the manner and rules they employed. You had to be dress right dress, on time, and be critiqued during your time behind the plate. And they were not shy about telling you what they thought you should do to change and improve to make them want to use you in the playoffs. I enjoyed my time behind the plate immensly in spite of the rules.
I don’t remember everything I write like some of the individuals do whom I follow. So I may have told this story before but one game stands out above all the rest. I started calling strikes on a ball that was just off the plate and just a couple of inches low. I stayed consistent the whole game so both sides knew what to expect. I would say that it more than evened out for each side. Of course, it came down to the last inning, the losing team had the bases loaded and I called the third strike on that pitch, which ended the game. The crowd became restless and I was wondering where the safest exit may be. The rowdier it became, the more desirous I was for security to be present, which was non-existent.
Then, one of the larger dads, (looked Goliath size to me at that moment), moved towards me and with a loud voice, told everyone to stop. I should remember exactly what he then said but I know it went something like this: “This umpire had been calling that pitch a strike for nine innings and both the pitcher and the batter and all of us in the stands knew that. He did his job today and we should be thankful he did.” The stands simmered down, a few parents came over to me and said I did the right thing and they hoped their boys would remember the lesson taught that day. I do not remember the High School but I do remember the two schools were made up mostly with minorities. And Goliath, it turns out he was the dad of the boy who struck out with the bases loaded.
I could have called that pitch a ball, walked in the tying run, and made one side happy with me for the time being. It is not always easy to stay true to your values, beliefs, and maintain the same strike zone when life happens. Paul gives us a way to maintain our pole position in the everyday challenges in Galatians: “But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not carry out the desire of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 NASB
I had to make a call on that pitch immediately, not after thinking it over for a couple of minutes. The arrows, with the tip dripping with multiple sins, often comes at us in the same manner as a fastball, and seems to be able to reach it’s target, (us), faster than that 100 mile fastball. I don’t make the claim I relied on the Holy Spirit to make that strike three call, but I knew I had to stay true to the calls I made for the entire game. I could talk about God making the same calls about salvation throughout Scripture. I could talk about a lot of things concerning the unwavering plan of God throughout Scripture.
But for now, I want to encourage you to begin walking by the Spirit of God if you are not doing so, to move forward if you have started trying to walk by the Spirit of God, and to continue if you have moved past the novice stage of walking by the Spirit of God. And continue you must, as there is for sure one of those dipped in sin arrows in the evil one’s quiver, and quite possibly a few others waiting to be dipped and fired, that we need to make sure stay in the quiver by walking in the Spirit of God.

Capturing The Greased Pig

How many of you know about the torturing of a female mayor in Germany by her own adopted seventeen year old daughter and fifteen year old adopted son in the basement of their home? The “mom” almost lost her life because of the stabbings and attempts to set her clothes and hair on fire. She sat in the living room in a chair, bleeding while the kids tried to clean up the spilt blood. The kids said some goons came into the house and did the deed but the knives were found in the son’s backpack and room. It has been stated the motive for the daughter’s actions were to seek revenge, but it has not been discovered yet what the revenge was for.
A few amazing facts are: first, that the police had been called to the residence previously because of threats by the daughter against her mom; second, the prosecutor is not charging the kids with anything at the moment and may only charge them with bodily harm, not attempted murder or destrution of evidence; third, they are not sending the kids to the father, [it appears the parents are separated or divorced as they do not live together], because he was either threatened or harmed by the kids previously and some kind of orders were issued. [I don’t remember the exact details as I write this and did not go back and check the article]
I remember the Menendez brother’s trial and the recent attempts by the do gooders to get them out of prison. Their claim was years of suffering pain from their father and their mother allowing it to go on for their horrendous actions. They were older when they used a shotgun to take out their parents and lived high on the hog with no remorse for a period before being incarcerated. They tried to say it was new evidence showing the pain and suffering but that was used as a defense at their original trial by Leslie Abramson, who was a skilled defense attorney.
Who knows what took place in the home of the mayor and her children and it would have to be rated at the degree of unimaginable to drive the daughter and son to the actions they took in retaliation. I do not know if that is even the case at this point but even so, I don’t think the Menendez brothers were justified in their actions and do not think the youngters actions in Germany are justified.
The story in Germany has too many red flag areas, e.g., the police being called to the residence previously for threats of violence, and the dad being threatened, (seems like it was on some kind of regular basis or at least more than once in order to get some orders in place). I have no idea about whether they have Social Workers in Germany, but a mayor certainly has some resources to obtain help in situations which are dangerous to their health. But if she was the problem, then she would not avail herself of those resources. That is how most of these situations go, it is like a merry-go-round in trying to get at the truth as it is more elusive than that greased pig we tried to catch at the fair and win the $100.00.
There is the question of how a Christian makes it through the tough times of abuse, with abuse sometimes being more than we can bear. This doesn’t mean non-Christians do not go through pain and suffering but as Christians, we are admonished to glorify God and place Him first and foremost in our lives, which includes those time of pain and suffering. While we sometimes are to react in the same manner a non-Christian would act, we do not start there in detremining what path to go down.
I remember right after I became a Christian, I went to the pastor to ask how I handled a certain situation which was keeping me up at night, was causing me extreme emotional pain and making me ready to throw away this new found life that was supposed to be so liberating and happy. His response was to simply pray and trust God and read my Bible.
While this was great advice, it was not advice I could hear or understand in my misery and pain. This pastor had what I thought was the ideal life, a wife and daughter who loved him and were following the Lord, a cushy job showing up on Sunday for a couple of hours, a nice salary and expense account, and free lunches and dinners on a regular basis. What did he know about pain and suffering and coming out on the other side with great war stories to tell about how God delivered him?
I am not trying to equate my pain and suffering with what the kids in Germany suffered, (if they did), or the suffering of the Menendez brothers, (if they did), or anyone else’s pain and suffering as it was unique to me, just as each person’s suffering is unique to them. But, nevertheless, it is all in the same degree of difficulty when you or I or the kids in Germany or the Menendez brothers are experiencing it. It is unbearable!
And just like that greased pig, getting the help from God and Scripture can be so hard to capture and hold on to. The real issue and question is what choices are we going to make during those periods of unimaginable suffering and pain, whether it is physical or emotional? I do not propose excluding legal assistance from the answer, or continuing to seek assistance when the first response leaves you up chucking at the starting line even though you haven’t put your feet in the blocks to start the race.
Obviously the mayor was in a different situation than what I am talking about here and while trusting in God is required, waiting on the answer for days or weeks may not be in your best interest and immediate action might be required. But, I do know that trusting in God to reveal the way out of the pain and suffering we experience as we walk or run down the path of life is the only way to get to the streets of gold and hear the words spoken, “Well done, my faithful servant”.
While I was working out my salvation during that period as it says in Philipians: “So then, my beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your salvation with fear and trembling;” Phil. 2;12 NASB, I read the book, “In His Steps” and memorized Proverbs 3:5 and 6, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight”, NASB. The greased pig was caught and held.
I wish I could say I have always followed the admonitions I learned in those early days of Christianity, but like that greased pig, they have slipped out of my vision on occasion. But, I do have many war stories of being successful because of keeping them in my vision and winning more than the $100.00 offered at the State Fair.
